Cut shortening into flour mixture until coarse. Add buttermilk, enough to make a THICK mixture, mix and turn out on board, knead lightly, roll out to 1/2-3/4 inch (12.5-19 mm) thickness, cut into biscuit rounds, place on baking sheet. Shape in such a way that you can break it easily  before eating (I fold  the dough, it looks  a little like two scones put together).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Let it rise some more.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Bake for about 20-25 min @ 180 C.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It is a little dry. In large bowl of electric mixer combine: flour, sugar and beer and mix well.&lt;br /&gt;2. Pour into a greased 9x5x3-inch loaf pan. &lt;br /&gt;3. Bake in 350 degree oven for 1 hour, or until done. &lt;br /&gt;4. Brush top of loaf with melted butter, if desired. &lt;br /&gt;5. In a bowl,&lt;br /&gt;beat the eggs; add sour cream, both cans of corn, salt and pepper. Stir&lt;br /&gt;in corn bread mix just until blended. Fold in sauteed onion, jalapeno&lt;br /&gt;and 1-1/2 cups of cheese. Transfer to a greased shallow 3-qt. baking&lt;br /&gt;dish. In a mixing bowl, combine butter, sugar and eggs; mix well. Add syrup and buttermilk. Stir in dry ingredients just until moistened. Stir in pecans. Line 24 muffin tins with paper liners.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In a food processor bowl, blend all dry ingredients. Stir well to blend flavors. Add oil and hot water.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;With an electric mixer at medium speed, beat 2 minutes, scraping bowl. Stir in whole-wheat flour and enough remaining all-purpose flour to make soft dough that leaves sides of bowl.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Turn out onto a floured board and knead for 5 minutes (or until dough is smooth and elastic). Place in a greased bow, turning dough to coat all sides. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled (approx 30 minutes).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Preheat oven to 275F (135C) oven. Punch down dough and divide into 24 pieces. Shape each piece into a long rope (approx 12 inches or 30 cm). Place on baking sheets. In a cup, beat egg with 1 tbsp water and brush on dough.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Sprinkle with the topping of your choice.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Bake for 40-45 minutes or until browned. Cool on wire racks. Serve warm or wrap in foil to store.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;I&gt;Note: some ovens are not long enough to bake things this long. Mix until flakes are moistened. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Add egg, milk, apple juice concentrate, oil, banana, raisins, and honey. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In another mixing bowl, combine flour, oatmeal, cinnamon, baking soda, and baking powder and stir till mixed.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Add to wet mixture slowly and mix until well combined. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Use muffin tins with paper liners or stoneware muffin pan that has been sprayed with cooking oil. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Spoon batter into muffin cups and bake at 175°F oven for 20 minutes or until baked.
